All frogs are handmade in Michigan by fine artist, Aimee Hart, who runs Enchanted Frogs on her own! Enchanted Frogs also offers manufactured designs in limited quantities. Each is made from a hand drawn template, machine and hand-sewn and brought to life with bouncy filling and plastic and/or glass beads. High quality fabrics, softness and weight provide a comforting sensory experience when you hold your frog. You will want to take them along on adventures! When they are not on-the-go, these sweeties look chic and unique in your home. I love to imagine that each of these little beings have a soul and personality.
Why frogs?
Frogs aren't a trend! They have been seen in fairy tales and folklore, mythology, tradition and art since the beginning of history. Frogs are known to be symbols of transformation, prosperity, fertility and good fortune. Mystery and magic surround these calm souls that have inhabited the earth for more than 200 million years. Enchanted means to be filled with joy and delight, even under a magic spell.
The mystery of the frog is a little extra special to me, because they have a presence in my family. I inherited my Nana's frog jewelry. A sterling brooch with dangly legs, and a charm; a green stone set in gold with diamond eyes. I'm not fortunate enough to ask what frogs meant to her, maybe they reminded her of how my mom would raise schools of tadpoles as a child (she still does this if they need to be saved from puddles),
or my older brother catching and keeping them as pets growing up. It illustrates how the magic and symbolism of the frog has been passed down through generations. I personally see them as a sign of good luck, transformation and family.
